Make sure that you check everything before renting and riding it. Check the tires, breaks, engines, lights, horns, etc. A bike with poor conditions leads to accidents. It’s also highly likely for the bike to break down. You may have to wait for hours to get it fixed and what if it happens in the middle of nowhere? That’s because many times the shop you rented the bike from will ask you for more money than it would normally to fix the bike. They have leverage to do it as they have your credit card or passport and rental agreement. Third party shop will likely to give you a fair price as they don’t have leverage and they basically will compete for your business.
